It's been 3 weeks since I did one of these. Well I recently did a shoot where the clothes were all solid colour blocking. For those not in the know, colour blocking has been making it's presense quite known in fashion. It's basically what it is, solid blocking of colours! How has it filtered down to makeup? A trend of wearing stronger lip shades would be the obvious choice. So here's 2 ways of wearing strong brights.
Now many of you may argue that sure models look great with just an acid coloured lip but how does that transfer to us everyday normal people. I agree and yes many of my friends while adventurous would feel quite naked just having nothing but a strong lip. So I would advise a sheer veil of colour on the eyes. In this instance I chose a buffed in shading of antique gold. Anyway we're jumping ahead of ourselves. Meet Helena!
Skincare: La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar 3 in 1 Solution, Sisley Botanical Floral Spray, Emma Hardie Hydrating Lighter Lotion, Lanolips 101 Ointment.
Helena had pretty normal skin with a few dry patches round the nose, and cheek and a few spots but nothing major. So I focused on massaging moisturiser into the drier areas after buffing with cotton pad soaked with micellar solution. Have a look at the after.
Face: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in Light, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, YSL Touche Eclat.
Eyes: MAC Eye Kohl in Powersurge, Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium, Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Phantasme, Paris Berlin Beige Pencil, Revitalash Volumizing Mascara and Primer.
Eyebrows: Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ash Blonde, MAC Clear Brow Fix.
Cheeks: NARS Bronzing Multiple in Malaysia, Chanel Joues Contraste in Orchid Rose.
Lips: MAC Lipstick in Violetta.
Powder: YSL Poudre Sur Mesure in Sand No 2.
Here's lipstick change No. 2.
Lips: OCC Lip Tars in NSFW and Traffic.

ReplyDeletewow love this. I have always been a bit scared of bright lipsticks…but am slowly learning to love! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always Mr Soh. I think I prefer the red lip, but it's a close call. The eyes have definition, yet the full focus is the bold lip. Beautiful. I think I need to be a bit braver in the old make up department ;o) x
ReplyDelete@Lola: Thanks Lola! I think you should give it a go, if you still think it's too bright, then blot and top with a bit of gloss. Work your way up to a full strong lip. Just have fun xx
ReplyDelete@Leanne OCD: Thanks Leanne as always! That's ok if you like the red more, I'm partial to a purple lip myself. Yeah people need to play round with makeup a bit more. Try it and twitpic me! Thanks for the comment as always xx
ReplyDeleteOh hun you are just too clever and talented! I actually love both looks f colour blocking. Only recently have I been embracing my larger lips and wearing reds again! I feel safer in reds when being bold. I love the lips tars, still not tried them but the colours are amazing!! Mel xxxx
