I am sure you're quite tired of hearing about my upcoming work trips to Barbados and also Mauritius. I apologise for that, I get quite excited about location shoots abroad as they result in a very different vibe. The light, weather, climate, textures and skin all change according to the surrounding. So it is a nightmare to actually pack for work trips. All the products that I use in cold, wet London all of a sudden might not work that well in the tropical climate of the Caribbean!
I have spent most of today going through all my products, trying to decide whether they make it into my limited luggage limit or not. I have taken out, put back in, tested, contemplated and repacked my kit countless times. I think I have it finalised, I think...
Face Prep
Complexion
Eye Colour Products
Mascara
Pencils
Cheek Colour
Lips
Body
Extras (aka extras that I can't do without usually)
This is the 5th attempt and it is now 16:17 and I have not included my extra bag of lip colours, nail polishes, disposables such as tissues, cotton wool pads and buds and not forgetting my emergency first aid kit. Don't laugh, every trip someone always needs painkillers, anti histamine, bandages and plasters! Now all that's left to be done is to pack my clothes, toiletries and footwear and that's a whole other drama that I probably won't blog about!

Don't forget your passport!
ReplyDeleteOh dear lord! You see, I knew I forgot something! Thanks Jane! x
DeleteYou're very well organized! Packed like a pro!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to my kit, I've got bit of OCD, like to pack according to the stages I work on the face! Haha. X
Deletebring anti-bacterial hand gel/spray!
ReplyDeleteHave fun shooting.
Kit that is the first thing I carry everywhere! Hehe thanks and see you soon! x
DeleteI have no idea why the pencils are making me laugh, I think its because its more than double the pencils I own, never mind what I'd take for a trip away. Even though I know they aren't for your face. Loving all the plastic wallets of YSL! Have a fab trip x
ReplyDeleteHaha well I'm a professional innit?! I'm just an obsessive who panics about not having the right texture of black pencil! Crazy I know but hey I get the job done. Hehe my OCD packing of same brand products! Thanks I'll speak to you when I'm back! x
DeleteLove this post! So great to see products in there and think 'I have that'! Means I am nearly ready to go to a hot sunny climate! (Well in my dreams!! In reality I am in rainy England!!) Seriously though- some great products in here- would be very interesting to see what ones you found performed well (and which ones didn't) when you get back? Might make summer travel packing easier for all of us stuck here in rainy england!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip and hope no-one needs your emergency first aid kit! xx
Thanks! I'm glad we share the same tastes in some products! I've travelled so much, these are products that I wouldn't be without in such humid and hot products. x
DeleteI just wrote a long comment and I think I deleted it :/
ReplyDeleteNo you didn't! :-) x
DeleteOh wow! I live in Barbados. Excited to hear about your projects here
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! Do look out for a team of people rushing around looking flushed and trying to do a photo shoot! LOL! x
DeleteWell I was looking but it seems I missed you :)
DeleteLooking forward to a blogpost on your trip ? (crossing fingers)
Oh we were all over the island, Speightstown, Belair etc. Incredible island. I will definitely go back! x
DeleteI love looking at your kit, its an opportunity to compile a shopping list :p he he
ReplyDeleteThanks, always glad to encourage shopping! Lol x
DeleteInteresting to see all you take with you. Have a great time in Barbados xx
ReplyDeleteThanks! x
DeleteSmart and brilliant packing. I loved the way u organised everything and its funny to rethink so much. I do the same thing and then panic coz I haven't got a that brown I wanted and then crib about it throughout the day. Have learnt to pack light with a hope that it works. Btw are those Inglot eyeshadows in the pans? And also Inglot blushes?
ReplyDeleteHaha yes luggage limit is a pain but we make do. No I don't really use any Inglot products, no reasons why but I didn't really get the textures when I tried it tears ago.
DeleteSame here but now a days their formula is really improved dramatically...its as soft and buttery as MAC...I would suggest just eyeshadows though....liked nothing else from the brand.
DeleteBtw u must try MAC's zoom fast lash mascara. Its the blackest I have come across and even if it clumps ridiculously u still end up getting fatty lashes. Any ideas on Laura Mercier's full volume mascara?
ReplyDeleteNo not yet but I will try soon x
DeleteWOW! Great to see this post! Love seeing what we both use :)
ReplyDeleteWhat Suquu powder is that? And what is the powder to the left of it?
Thanks x
http://liana-beauty.blogspot.com/
It's the SUQQU powder in Natural with no shimmer. The powder to the left in YSL Poudre Sur Mesure. Thanks for the comment x
DeleteWhere did you get you pencil case? Brilliant...Too many mascaras but again...Have a great trip! Cheers, Marie
ReplyDeleteI got the cases from an art supply store. You can never have too many masaras!
Deletei would love to see a post on face prep! most women dont realize just how important skin care really is. xo
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I spend almost as long on skincare prepping as I do on makeup. I'll definitely try to do a post about it soon. Thanks for the comment x
DeleteWhere did you get the pencil holder Kenneth? Fab packing, love your style x
ReplyDeleteJust any art supply store will stock these. They're pencil or brush rolls. X
DeleteThanks for sharing, I looooove to look into your kit hehe. I can see my fav Voluminous mascara:) Impressed with pencils, what a great (and simple!) idea to organise them. Looking forward to the post on skin-prep!
ReplyDeletePS: What brand is the rectangular blush palette?
xx
Thanks Martita, the blush palette is from Shu Uemura. Thank you for the comment! X
