La Roche-Posay: Brand Catch Up : Anthelios Offerings

As we fast approach the summer months and (hopefully) sunny days, I've been travelling for work and as always pack a comprehensive SPF kit for crew and myself! Through experience everyone on a trip tends to delve into my kit for SPF concerns so I bring a lot! My main concerns with sunscreens and blocks especially when it comes to being used on the model is that one, they offer good protection so she/he doesn't burn or change colour so that they stay constant for the shoots. The other concern is that they don't grease up the face and cause that awful chalky finish that the higher factors usually give.

One of my favourite is the Anthelios range from La Roche-Posay. I was first introduced to this range by the lovely PR who is now a good friend. I was sceptical, a point she continues to make even though it's been many years! The orginal Anthelios products I had were the fluids in SPF 30 and 50 and I love them as they melted into skin with no traces. Well Anthelios has upped it's game! Let's have a look.
Anthelios XL SPF50+ Invisible Nutritive Oil
At last! Someone's created an oil with the high SPF factor of 50! For fans of oil which usually contains the lowest or no SPF, this one is a treat. Light and non-greasy and drying to a satiny finish, it smells lovely and I can't wait to use it on an upcoming work trip! Oh it also contains La Roche-Posay's Thermal Water to calm and soothe skin. And did I mention SPF50+?!

Anthelios XL SPF50+ Dry Touch Gel-Cream
This newbie to the range disappears on skin upon application to leave a matte finish that's perfect for hot humid countries. It's also water-resistant so perfect for sweaty or wet activities! Tipped to be my new favourite!

Anthelios XL SPF50+ Tinted Cream
Promising the same high protection but this time in the form of a tinted cream. So for those who want a little bit of a glow and colour, this is perfect. I've tested it on various skin tones, it's pretty adaptable so I'd be confident in using it all the time. Helps keep foundation to a minimum as the tint gives skin a slight polish.

So there you go! 3 very effective and gorgeous SPF products to ensure no one burns during days out in the sun. Whether on holiday or on a shoot! Anyone tried these yet? I'd love to hear how you get on so please feel free to leave comments. Tan responsibly everyone!

  1. Would the oil be a good choice for someone like myself with extremely dry skin? I currently use a Estee' Lauder face cream with SPF built in, but its a low version 15, and with my work I could use something a bit higher.

What do you think...should I try it?

    1. Christy I would use the oil for the body mainly and also whilst on holiday and not for work. If for face for work, I'd suggest using a seperate one after applying your face cream. The Anthelios SPF50 Cream would be a good one. They have a wide range and there will be one suitable for you. X

  2. I received Anthelios XL 50+ Fluide Extreme and was very eager to try it for the face as it has very light texture and I'm always on the search of a perfect sunscreen which I can apply under my foundation. But when I applied MUFE face & body over it rubbed off with a tiny flakes :( Seems something wasn't agreeing with the foundation :(

    1. Hi Katya, thanks for letting me know. That's so unusual, I have never had that problem with any of the foundations I use after applying Anthelios. I will look into that, maybe try and wait a few minutes after applying Anthelios to sink ini and then apply foundation after. I hope that helps. Thanks for the comment x

  3. Hi! I've just found your blog & I'm really impressed with your work. You're really an awesome ARTIST!! thumbs up!
So, I just wanted to comment & share on Anthelios products. I have combination/oily skin & I use Anthelios XL SPF50+ Dry Touch Gel-Cream which I purchased earlier this year. I'm loving it! I also like the fluid with the same SPF very much. Well, I guess I'm done LOL.
Keep up the great job! It's a real delight to read about your wonderful job! :)

    1. Hi Stephy thanks for the very kind comments!I'm as you know a huge fan of Anthelios but haven't tried the Ger-Cream formula. I'll look into it for next time. Thanks x
